The Remote Desktop Services Configuration Tool (RDSCT) is a small and handy tool to configure and modify settings related to the Microsoft Remote Desktop Services Role. You can modify settings available in the Windows registry or done thru local policies.

RDSCT allows you to export and import configurations between different systems, the import feature will be only available for User with a donation advantage file (see Donation in this readme).

RDSCT can use two sources for the configuration settings: Registry and Machine Policy. So you can merge settings from Machine Policy to Registry and vice versa. Please note that some settings are only available in the Registry and some only in the Machine Policy, in this case only the right configuration place will be used by RDSCT.

RDSCT will provide a tool tip help for all settings, just hold the mouse pointer on top of a setting for one second.

RDSCT can also sniff for active TCP based RDP connections incl. a detection for the Client MAC-ID and DNS Name, for some type of devices/connections this will not always work (like for Clients using a virtual network card or connections done thru a Microsoft Remote Desktop Gateway). UDP based connections are currently not shown in general.

Inportant Notes
Settings done thru a Domain Policy will be shown in RDSCT if "Machine Policy" is selected as Setting Source but a change to a Domain Policy based setting will not be saved at all.

Some settings will only have an effect on fully licensed Microsoft Remote Desktop Services enabled Server operating systems, as example the "Sessions" configuration.

This tool doesn't bypass the Microsoft Licensing in any way, you can configure the licensing with RDSCT but you can't disable it. To use all features provided by RDSCT you need a proper activated Microsoft Windows OS and/or Remote Desktop Services environment.

RDSCT will only work thru the Windows registry, it will not add or modify and binaries.

By using this tool you might lost the support coming from Microsoft if performing an unsupported configuration.

Beta note
The Beta Version allows the Import and Export feature to adopt configurations between serveral system's, the final version will require a license file (Donation Advantage) to allow this feature. This will be the only limitation and is a benefit for people that support our work and to maintain our infrastructure.

The RDSCT GUI is currently not final.
